Sport for all with Sologne Handisport

Sidney Villerez from Villefranche-sur-Cher and Bernard Bovagnet from Châtres-sur-Cher met in Saint-Laurent-Nouan where they had gone to practice wake-boarding, a water sport. These two friends work together to raise awareness of disability with Usep, the tennis club where they play, the school of La Ferté-Imbault… and train at Blois Handisport.

But the journeys are daunting. So, this stay-at-home dad and business manager founded an association in June: Sologne handisport. President Sidney Villerez has already registered the club with the French Handisport Federation. Their leitmotif is: “Sport for all, we all have a sport that we might like. Despite the disability, you have to dare, flourish, play sports. »

The Forum des associations de Romorantin allowed them to arouse the interest of sports clubs, the local Mission, the Majo who indicated to them that suitable accommodation exists for possible competitions.

  • Thirty members :

“Material would allow people, children to put themselves in a situation and realize the difficulties”, indicate President Sidney and Vice-President Bernard. For example, it is necessary to count in the 1.500 € for a multisport chair. At first, in the absence of equipment, “we will try to make arrangements with the Blois club”. But they intend to “find as many members and sponsors as possible to finance equipment and tournaments”. Already two sponsors support them and they “are also working on a presentation file to canvass”. About thirty members joined them to support them. “For the moment, the only disabled people in the association are us. Although both are paraplegics, the association caters to all physical, motor or sensory disabilities. Only the psychic handicap, which requires adaptations that they do not control, is not taken into account. They hope to arouse the desire for sport in people with reduced mobility such as children in foster families. “We can accompany them to try to find a sport. “And to quote the sledge hockey set up by the Hockey Federation to prevent disabled athletes from going to Tours. “The tennis club is very committed, they underline. The courts will be accessible to everyone next year. »
